FISCHIONE – This large migratory bird breeds in the northernmost areas of Europe and Spain and winters in Italy, choosing the Fornace (Kiln) as the perfect spot to spend the colder months.

TECHNIQUE BATTUTO – This is the cold-crafting technique that most challenges the skill and delicacy of the master glassmaker. The distinctive characteristic of Beaten glass is that its surface is “sculpted” by hand with a grinding wheel. This creates countless small and apparently irregular marks on the glass surface.

TONI ZUCCHERI – The son of the animalist painter Luigi Zuccheri, Toni inherited his father’s passion for animals, which are recurrent subjects in his creations. Toni Zuccheri attended the faculty of architecture in Venice under the guidance of Gardella, Albini, Scarpa and Samonà. He started to collaborate with VENINI in the 1960s: his first glassworks are, according to the family tradition, animals made in multi-coloured glass with precious techniques like the “murrine” technique. In 1965, he started to collaborate with Gio Ponti, with whom he designed a new system of glass windows, called “Vetrate Grosse”. Following this, he expanded his glass production with new colours and subjects and participated in various exhibitions worldwide.
